Wildlife at Dorback Estate

Since its purchase in 2000, Dorback has become a haven for wildlife. Whilst the estate offers first class grouse shooting, pheasant shooting and roe and red deer stalking, the natural wildlife present on the estate is also second to none. Black grouse, green plover, snipe, golden plover, curlew, oystercatchers, short eared owls, capercaillie, voles, hares and red squirrels are just a small selection of the abundant wildlife on the estate.

In addition to the native Scottish wildlife, the owners have introduced 6 Pottok ponies. These hardy ponies are a native breed hailing from the Pyrenees of the Basque Country in France and Spain and live out on the moorland at Dorback.
